Ahavah Oblak

medium: Photo Embroidery

Artist Statement:

My work is inspired by nature, the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, my time living on a farm in Israel as an herbalist and organic farmer, Jewish rituals and symbols and the indigenous Jews of the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.

Artist Bio:

Ahavah Oblak has been involved in artistic creation since childhood, receiving a 1st place ribbon for a counted cross stitch pin cushion at age seven. She excelled at black and white photography in high school and completed a minor in art during her undergraduate studies.

Professionally, Ahavah has worked as an educator, organic farmer, herbalist, and development professional and is currently a grant writer for several Jewish nonprofit organizations.

During the Covid pandemic, she began experimenting again with cross stitch, embroidery, blackwork, paper, vintage images, sacred geometry, textiles, beading and, most recently, photo embroidery.
