Francine Goteiner

medium: Painting, Watercolor & Ink

Artist Statement:

I find the variety of watercolour techniques and methods of central interest in my work. I like vibrant and contrasting colours and textures. The multiplicity of ways to create a watercolour image to visually communicate a feeling to the viewer relates to my experience of performing a piece of piano music to communicate a feeling by sound.

Artist Bio:

I was born and raised in New York City, where I studied piano and piano performance. After a career in public health, I returned to studying and performing classical piano music. I came to study watercolour as a way to cope with being homebound due to the Covid pandemic. Watercolour painting has been the silver lining in the cloud of Covid restrictions; painting opened a new world to me. Joining ORA and meeting the other artists online has been a wonderful addition to my growing interest in creating visual art.
